The Southeast Alaska Indigenous Transboundary Commission (SEITC) has withdrawn from the judicial review of the KSM Substantially Started Decision as a procedural step to focus on a case of greater strategic importance to Tribal rights.
This withdrawal does not reflect the merits of the judicial review. SEITC remains confident in the strength of the case and its chances of success and stands firmly with the petitioners advancing the challenge.
It is essential that projects of this scale be assessed under current environmental laws and up-to-date science. SEITC maintains its opposition to the SSD and to the KSM project, which has advanced without adequate consultation with impacted communities and poses serious risks to the Nass and Unuk watersheds.
