ESTHER AALTSEÉN REESE
President

Esther is Eagle Tsaagweidí (Killerwhale) from Ḵéex̱ʼ Kwáan (Kake), Alaska. She serves as the Tribal Administrator for the Wrangell Cooperative Association, the federally recognized Tribe in Wrangell, Alaska. Locally, Esther was elected to a Wrangell School District board seat and serves as the Indian Education Committee Chair.

ROB SANDERSON JR.
Vice-President

Rob is Haida, Eagle from the Sdaasd’as clan. He was born in Ketchikan and raised in Hydaburg, Alaska. He serves as the 3rd Vice President of Tlingit & Haida’s Executive Council.

SYLVIA BANIE, KSH'CHEESH
Secretary

Sylvia is a knowledge keeper from the Eagle clan. She serves as the Mayor of the city of Saxman, and has served on the council of the Village of Saxman for over 20 years. She grew up fishing and hunting with her father, Martin T Perez.

LOUIE WAGNER, JR
Metlakatla Indian Community

Louie is Tsimshian and Łingít of the Wolf/Eagle moiety Teiḵwedí (Brown bear clan) Xóots Ḵoowu Hít (Brown bear’s den house) of Sanyaa Ḵwáan (Cape Fox). Lifelong Metlakatla resident, he has learned his way of life from Elders and is passing it down to his children and grandchildren. Louie has harvested from and taken care of the Unuk River for over 60 years, and continues to do so with his children and grandchildren. He has served his community as Councilman for 16 years, 4 of those years as Acting Mayor. Louie now serves on the Southeast RAC Board.

MIKE JONES
Organized Village of Kasaan

Mike Jones is the President of the Organized Village of Kasaan. Actively involved in preserving cultural heritage of the Haida, he has also played a significant role in advocating for the protection of the Tongass National Forest through the Roadless Rule.

RAY SENSMEIER
Yakutat Tlingit Tribe

Ray is a member of the Humpback Salmon Clan. Very active in his native community, he also was the Alaska Native Brotherhood president for many years, and is active in the Grand Camp, serving as Grand Officer. He has also served on the Wrangell/St Elias Park and Preserve Subsistence Commission for over 20 years and worked on subsistence issues in the Wrangell/St. Elias Park and Preserve. He has also traveled the world speaking about Native culture in Alaska.

ANN WYATT
Klawock Cooperative Association
Alternate

Born and raised in Klawock, Ann is of the L’eeneidi Raven Moiety, Dog Salmon Clan. She is the Environmental Director of Klawock Cooperative Association (KCA) and serves as the main liaison between Tribal, federal, and state environmental agencies. 

Ann is a Region 10 Alaska Representative on the National Tribal Water Council (NTWC), a body comprised of members with technical, scientific and traditional cultural knowledge created to assist the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in decision-making on water quality related concerns throughout Indian Country. Ann looks forward to a better future for our Children, Grandchildren, and future generations.

Of the Kàach.àdi clan, a child of the Tsaagweidi clan, Joel is the President of the Organized Village of Kake. He advocates for Indigenous rights, food security, environmental protection, and cultural healing.

Tazia Wagner is Ts’msyen, Łingít, and Haida of the laxgibuu (wolf clan) from Metlakatla, Alaska. She is an Indigenous scholar, knowledge holder and learner, fisheries scientist, and is SEITC’s youngest Tribal representative.

Guy is an analytical environmental chemist and microbiologist with over 20 years of experience. He works to utilize western science and applies traditional knowledge and practices to protect the communities, the temperate rain forest, and the salmon.

Cindy is Ts’msyen and Haida of the Niisk’iyaa Laxgibuu (wolf clan/phratry) of the Gitzaxłaał, one of nine Allied Tribes of Lax Kw’alaams, within the Ecstall watershed near Port Simpson, B.C. Alongside her family, Cindy harvests from and stewards the Unuk River, following a way of life practiced since time immemorial.

A photojournalist of Finnish and Amazigh descent, Sonia has covered environmental and humanitarian topics for over a decade. She is currently co-directing and producing a documentary film about a community-driven archaeological project on the Bering Sea coast.
